Tic Tac Toe Cubed

What is Tic Tac Toe Cubed?

Tic Tac Toe Cubed is a new and exciting take on the classic game of Tic Tac Toe.

Instead of a 3 x 3 square, what if Tic Tac Toe was played on a 3 x 3 x 3 Cube? With Tic Tac Toe Cubed, if you play a corner, you play three sides at once. If you play an edge, you play two sides at once. So when you’re playing, you’re not just thinking about how your move will affect one side, you have to think about the entire cube at once. It’s simple enough that anyone can play, yet challenging enough to stay entertaining.

The game itself fits in the palm of your hand. It’s about 3in or 75mm on all sides. The game can be picked up, rotated, tossed back and forth between players, dropped, and the pieces still hold in place. Yet the pieces can still easily be pulled out and snapped back into place with a satisfying click.

How to play?

Just like the classic game of Tic Tac Toe, the goal of Tic Tac Toe Cubed is to get three X's or O's in a line. Start with an empty base. Insert play pieces one player at a time until the base is full. Remember, what makes Tic Tac Toe Cubed unique is the ability to play anywhere on the base at a time.

Alternative - Play one side at a time. However, be careful as when you move to a new side, you will find part of it may already be filled in.

How to score?

Count the lines (three X’s or three O’s in a row) on each side and give each player a point for each line.

Alternative - One point per side. Whichever player has the most lines on a side wins that side. In the case of a tie, both players get a point.

Hint - One easy method to keep track of which sides have been counted is to remove the center playing piece once that side has been counted.

How to get Tic Tac Toe Cubed

Having a background in engineering and manufacturing, I knew what it would take to get these mass produced. However, there was a problem. I'm just a normal person. I'm not rich or famous. So without the resources or capital to manufacture and distribute the game myself, and without the popularity to gain those resources, I decided to at least distribute the files files needed to 3D print your own Tic Tac Toe Cubed below as well as at Thingiverse.com. Assembly instructions can be found here. However, I know not everyone has access to a 3D printer so I am selling small quantities at Etsy.com for those who are interested.
